The Scorpio Races

Scorpio Races

by Casey Cook

On the lonely island of Thisby the annual race is about to begin. Riders must choose their steed, a legendary flesh-eating water horse. Two young participants must brave the dangerous waters with these horrific beasts roaming around to acquire their steed and to train with them.
Sean is a professional rider, having been the champion last year, and is the most likely to win again this year. Puck is the first female to enter in the races and due to lack of experience with water horses, is the most likely to lose or get killed by them. They both have their reasons for entering the race, but there can only be one winner.
After watching his dad die in the Scorpio Races as a boy, Sean has honed his skill and talent and swore off any fear of the water horses. The only way for Sean to leave his awful job at the stables would be to lose the only thing he cares about: his water horse Corr.
Living in an old, broken house with one half working car and an island pony, Puck and her brothers struggle to eat a proper meal since their parents died. When her older brother announces that he will be leaving for the mainland, Puck enters the dangerous Scorpio Races against her brother’s wishes.
Losing is not an option for these two when everything is on the line and they are willing to do whatever it takes to win the Scorpio Race. The Scorpio Races is projected to be a major motion picture by Warner Bros in 2015, so catch up on your reading list and add this one to it because it’ll be the next big thing!
