Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy Movie

by Ben Jenkins

The summer of 2014 has been a little disappointing as far as blockbuster movies go, but with last night’s release of Guardians of the Galaxy, it seems our prayers have finally been answered. Directed by James Gunn, the PG-13 Guardians of the Galaxy stars Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Vin Diesel as Groot, and Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer. While Guardians of the Galaxy is filled with awesome special effects and a great cast of characters, the film’s best feature just might be the writing. The screenplay, by James Gunn and Nicole Perlman, gives you just enough information about the world of the Guardians without bogging you down with unnecessary details. The action and adventure combined with hilarious jokes (wait for the Footloose references) makes for a 120-minute movie that flies by so fast, you’ll want to see it again to really appreciate everything it has to offer. Oh, and make sure to stay until after the credits to see a cameo from one of the first Marvel characters to be brought to the big screen (by none other than George Lucas himself).
