This week the Wardrobe Recommends…
If you are a fan of Lewis Carroll’s work, Alice in Wonderland, then you are in for a treat! Author A.G. Howard writes a new version of these tales in a dark and mysterious way. Main character, Alyssa Gardner, has reached womanhood—but unlike other girls, hears things speaking to her in her head. She worries that she will end up like her institutionalized mother who had experienced the same things—especially because madness runs in her family, beginning with her great-great-great-grandmother, Alice Liddell. Yes, the one who had supposedly gone down the rabbit hole and experienced all of the whimsy and fear within Underland (or Wonderland, as some of you may better know). This is the first in a trilogy, so if you get it started, be ready to buy two more books afterward! With the great reviews this book has received, I’m sure the following books are just as captivatingly dark. On the back of the book, we are told that “fans of dark fantasy, as well as of Carroll’s Alice in all her revisionings (especially Tim Burton’s), will find a lot to love in this compelling and imaginative novel.” Pick up your very own copy today—make sure to include ample relaxation into your schedule with this book in your hands and your nose up against the pages.
