Submission Guidelines

Here in The Wardrobe, we happily accept submissions from our followers.  All we ask is that you please follow these guidelines (We will not accept your work if you do not follow the specific guidelines given):

*If writing a piece for children or if critiquing a piece of children’s literature, please keep the language and content to Rated G—Please specify in email subject line

*If writing a piece for young adults or critiquing a piece of YA literature, please keep the language and content to Rated PG-13—please specify in email subject line

Fiction: (3200 words max)

  • No simultaneous submissions (please do not send us a piece you have sent to other literary journals)
  • Please include your name on the top of the front page
  • Please include your title on the top of the front page
  • Please include word count on the top of the front page
  • Include a cover page with a short bio (maximum 8 lines)
  • All pieces must follow science fiction, fantasy or fairy tale theme

Poetry: (1 to 4 pieces of poetry)

  • No simultaneous submissions (please do not send us a piece you have sent to other literary journals)
  • Please include your name on the top of the front page
  • Please include your title before each poem
  • Please include line count before each poem
  • Maximum length of an individual poem is two pages
  • Include a cover page with a short bio (maximum 8 lines)
  • Poems must follow science fiction, fantasy or fairy tale theme

Photography/fanart: (1 to 4 pieces of art)

  • Can include pictures of sculptures, original paintings, original photography and original fanart
  • Can be in black and white or color
  • Please include your name on a cover letter
  • Please include title of work on cover letter
  • Include a cover page with a short bio (maximum 8 lines)
  • All works of art must follow science fiction, fantasy or fairy tale theme

Book and Movie Reviews/Interviews: (500 to 800 words max)

  •     Title of Review (personal title)
  •     Book title with author name
  •     “Review By”
  •     Picture wrapped within text (near top) *Optional*
  •     If Spoiler Alert, then have in caps before beginning of the review
  •     Interweave synopsis with personal review
  •     Author Bio placed separately at the end (picture included) *Optional*

Nonfiction (Essay or Creative): (3200 words max)

  • No simultaneous submissions (please do not send us a piece you have sent to other literary journals).
  • Please include your name on the top of the front page
  • Please include your title on the top of the front page
  • Please include your word count on the top of the front page
  • Include a cover page with a short bio (maximum 8 lines)
  • All pieces must follow science fiction, fantasy or fairy tale theme

Graphic Narrative: (1 to 2 pieces)

  • Must be no longer than four pages.  Will be published in PDF format.
  • Can be in color or in black and white.
  • All pieces must follow science fiction, fantasy or fairy tale theme.
  • Please include your name on a cover letter.
  • Please include the title of your piece on cover later.
  • Please include a small bio on cover letter (maximum 8 lines)

Serial Novel: (1 Chapter per submission period)

  • Please include a title page with the title of the work and your name
  • Please include the title chapter on the first page
  • Please include a small bio on cover letter (maximum 8 lines)

We are accept submissions ALL YEAR ROUND.  If your work is accepted, we should have it up and published within the following week.

Note: We do not pay our accepted authors and artists.

Here at The Wardrobe we respect the intellectual property of creative artists worldwide and we expect our members to respect others’ intellectual property as well. Help us in keeping The Wardrobe a friendly and positive environment for all visitors and members of The Wardrobe.
